Group Workshops

Host your own Workshop!

There are no plans for any future group workshops here, but you can host one for you and your own group. Private workshops are available throughout the US and Canada.

If you would like to host a group workshop in your area, please contact me at info@kariphotography.com for details.

The class is limited to 10 people.

These workshops are intended to help aspiring photographers and photo enthusiasts at a beginning to intermediate level. The main topic of these workshops is photographing people, with a focus on children.

We will discuss the following, but not limited to:

  • camera settings
  • lighting
  • flattering angles
  • composition
  • posing
  • shooting in RAW
  • your questions about anything else

We will spend hours shooting in various situations including indoor natural light and outdoors, and working with reflectors. We will also touch on studio lighting and flash. We will have young models of various ages, including infants, preschoolers and teenagers. You will have the opportunity to watch me work, photograph the models yourself and ask questions as we go. After spending hours shooting and refining your skills, we'll sit down together on the computer and post process our images in Photoshop. I'll show you how slight adjustments can dramatically affect the impact of your images.

You will need:
- A DSLR camera
- Walking shoes - dress comfy as we'll be working outside quite a bit.

Helpful but NOT required:

  • A form of Photoshop with RAW editing capability
  • A collapsible white reflector
  • A laptop computer loaded with Photoshop (Elements OK)
  • A lens with the ability to shoot at f/2.8 or lower.

Because of space, and the need for one on one attention, each class is limited to 10 people.

Register only if you know you'll make it.
Due to the limited number of openings, refunds will not be available if you aren't able to attend.

  1. Hi,

What cameras do you recommend for your workshops?

    Thanks!

  2. Any digital SLR camera will work fine. I use Canon, but other brands are great as well. I would recommend getting a camera with a fixed aperture, meaning the fstop doesn't change if you zoom in. Get a lens that will open to 2.8 or wider (smaller number the better). I hope that helps!
